At East Baton Rouge Schools, Students Have 24/7 Connectivity
When teaching and learning moved online in 2020, inequities in digital access were impossible to ignore. In Louisiana’s East Baton Rouge Parish School System, 1 in 4 students do not have home internet access, according to Terrica Jamison, administrative director of technology for the district. In 2023, the district received a $2 million grant from T-Mobile, which allowed them to purchase 11,000 Chromebooks with Wi-Fi and hotspot compatibility. Working with CDW and T-Mobile, EBR School System’s IT staff completed the large device deployment, allowing the district’s high school students to access the internet from anywhere.
