Google Gives Students an Internet Safety Crash Course

Students at Whittier Middle School in Washington, D.C. were visited by Google representatives for a crash course in Internet safety.

The Argus Leader reports that Google visited the school earlier this month as part of an educational series it has been conducting for several years. The basics of password strength and tips to help avoid Internet scams were shared with the teenagers.

“This is the time when they might be getting that first device or cell phone,” Google spokeswoman Jamie Hill told The Argus Leader. Hill characterized the event as "an online safety road show" for students, emphasizing discretion in their dealings with others on the Internet.
