Huntsville City Schools Centralizes Career and Technical Education
When leaders of Huntsville City Schools in Alabama realized the district was outgrowing its career and technical education setup, it opted to build a centralized facility for its students interested in pursuing a workforce development track.
The 81,000-square-foot Huntsville Center for Technology opened in August 2025 and houses a range of technical programs, from culinary arts and cosmetology to welding and precision machining. Technology is at the forefront of the facility, both from a networking perspective and embedded in each classroom.

Video Highlights
- The Huntsville Center for Technology was built to fill a need for a centralized career and technical education facility serving Huntsville City Schools’ high school students.
- Technology throughout the facility enables learning across disciplines. For example, in the culinary arts lab, the instructor can livestream demonstrations from the front of the room to monitors on each workstation.
- As interest in career-focused education continues to rise, enrollment at the HCT is climbing and the district is exploring additional programming to keep up with the demand.
