CoSN2021’s Virtual Conference Promises to be ‘Brave and Bold’

The Consortium for School Networking has prepared an entirely remote experience focusing on digital solutions and interactivity.

For the second year in a row, the Consortium for School Networking will hold its annual conference fully online in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. This year’s event, to be held March 2-4, will be packed with interactive exhibits and digital-first presentations.

Keeping with its theme of “Brave and Bold,” CoSN2021 will celebrate tech leaders and educators who have taken courageous action to accomplish their goals in the face of the past year’s shift to online learning and technological adaptation. Conference sessions will also highlight ways to embed technology into the workflow and make it accessible to all.

Speakers Discuss How to Narrow the Digital Divide

Many conversations at this year’s conference will revolve around digital solutions. Ken Shelton, educational technology strategist and one of EdTech’s 2020 K–12 IT influencers, will deliver the opening keynote speech of the conference, “Fostering Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in EdTech.”

Another session on digital equity, “Continuity Planning for Special Needs Students in a Virtual World,” will be presented by Vince Humes, director of innovative technology solutions for Northwest Tri-County Intermediate Unit 5, and other Pennsylvania educators.

In a session on distance learning, Michael Flood, senior vice president and general manager for education at Kajeet, will examine the successes of 2020 and the critical need for a strategic vision moving forward. He will also cover the equity challenges districts face nationally and how to overcome them.

Opportunities to Build Connections at the Virtual Experience

In addition to speaker sessions, participants can expect interactivity and meaningful networking opportunities. CoSN2021 has built in dedicated exhibit time to allow participants to virtually visit the conference’s exhibitors and sponsors. Attendees will be able to network and speak with exhibitors at digital booths to find resources and solutions.

New to this year’s conference, CoSN’s Sponsor Speed Networking event will allow participants to schedule five-minute meetings with the event’s sponsors on the afternoon of March 3.

EdTech: Focus on K–12 will provide coverage of the event throughout the coming week. Follow the conversation by bookmarking EdTech’s CoSN2021 page and catch all of the conference updates live by following @EDTECH_K12 on Twitter, along with the event hashtag, #COSN2021.
