Expect ‘Audacious Leadership’ at CoSN 2013

This year’s conference will highlight disruptive and innovative leaders.

Educators heading to this year’s annual Consortium for School Networking conference in San Diego can expect bold and brave ideas. The theme for this year’s conference is “Audacious Leadership,” and organizers will bring together disruptive and innovative leaders to define a new vision for 21st century learning.

Some of the audacious leaders in the show’s keynote lineup include Punya Mishra, associate professor of educational technology at Michigan State University. His work on the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) framework, in particular, is widely lauded and has been described as “the most significant advancement in the area of technology integration in the past 25 years,” according to his bio on CoSN.

Mishra will be joined by Lord David Puttnam, chancellor of the Open University, for the opening keynote on March 11. Puttnam is a pioneer in distance learning and has led the charge for the cause in his native United Kingdom.

The conference will feature a full-day symposium, themed “Digital Inclusion: The Global Imperative of Bridging Schools and Home,” with presentations from government, industry and philanthropy experts.

Among the speakers will be Congressman George Miller of California, who serves on the U.S. House Committee on Education and the Workforce. Miller will discuss the launch of the Transforming Education Through Technology Act, a new legislative initiative to support the use of advanced technological resources in the nation’s schools.

If you’re not able to make it to San Diego, no worries. For the first time, organizers are offering educators the option to attend virtually, through CoSNVirtual.

The team from EdTech: Focus on K-12 will provide live coverage from the show, including articles, video and social media commentary. Be sure to follow @EdTech_K12 on Twitter for the latest from the show.
