Technology Powers Pac-12's Broadcast Network

Pac-12 Networks produces and televises sporting events for the Pac-12 university athletic conference. The network launched in 2011. Rather than rent expensive satellite time, Pac-12 Networks uses the optical-fiber Internet2, a high-speed research and education network, to deliver content to its San Francisco headquarters, where many of the broadcasts are produced. The network televised 550 events in its first year and plans to cover 750 events in its second year.
