EDUCAUSE 2017: Higher Ed IT Community Gathers for Peer-to-Peer Learning

Annual conference gives educators and experts an opportunity to share ideas and insights.

Higher education IT professionals from around the country will gather in Philadelphia on Oct. 31–Nov. 3 for the EDUCAUSE Annual Conference 2017, a showcase of interesting happenings in the field.

This year’s event, held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, brings together educators, technology experts, professional organizations, established companies and startups. Hosted by the nonprofit organization EDUCAUSE, the annual conference offers a wide range of sessions. They tackle educational technology from a variety of perspectives, from the classroom to career tracks, from IT infrastructure to innovation.

This year’s keynote speakers include:

  • Michio Kaku, physicist and author of The Future of the Mind: The Scientific Quest to Understand, Enhance, and Empower the Mind, will present “The Next 20 Years in Education and Technology.”

  • Katherine Milkman, an associate professor of operations, information and decisions at the University of Pennsylvania, will present “Decision Biases: Improving the Quality of Our Everyday Decisions.”

  • Temple Grandin, author, animal sciences professor and advocate for individuals with autism, will discuss “Developing Students Who Have Different Kinds of Minds.”

EDUCAUSE offers a mobile app to help attendees plan their schedules and navigate the conference on the fly, with a daily agenda, session descriptions, speaker bios and conference center maps. Users also can create a personal itinerary.
