ISTE 2012: The State of Social Media in Schools
- Social media is still in its disruptive phase in the classroom. More schools are embracing it, but not many are pushing the boundaries and using it in imaginative and unconventional ways.
- Schools must guide students through social media so that they develop the necessary skill set to master the medium in the future.
- Better tools, such as improved content filtering, would help schools navigate social media in the classroom.
Participants include: Will Richardson, author and speaker; David Warlick, 2¢ Worth writer and speaker; Karen Cator, director of the Office of Educational Technology for the Dept. of Education; Sam Farsaii, director of instructional technology for the Irving Independent School District, Texas.
