ISTE 2015: What You Need to Know Before the Show

Are you ISTE-bound? Don't miss our brief rundown of what to expect from this year's big show.

Are you ready for this year's biggest educational-technology conference?

Each year, thousands of educators, administrators and technology leaders gather for the ISTE Conference & Expo. ISTE 2015 will take place in Philadelphia, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, June 28–July 1.

Listening to classroom success stories from some of the world's top educators, along with the latest news on the technologies for tomorrow's schools, will give attendees a strategic edge in education. Attendees will also be able to connect with friends and colleagues from across the world and share their most effective ed-tech tactics and techniques.

Three Keynotes Lead the Show

Award-winning journalist Soledad O'Brien will take the spotlight Sunday, June 28, for the conference's first keynote. O'Brien launched Starfish Media Group in 2013 and has since been working on "uncovering and producing stories that delve into the often-divisive issues of race, class, wealth, poverty and opportunity through personal stories."

Jack Gallagher, an educator who made the leap to comedy and writing, is scheduled to lead Tuesday's keynote, titled “Insight into Autism: A Father’s Perspective.” Gallagher is a three-time Emmy-award winner for his work on PBS programs such as Money Moves and Kids, Cash & Common Sense.

The conference's closing keynote, on Wednesday, will be led by Josh Stumpenhorst, the 2011–2012 Illinois Teacher of the Year and an ISTE Emerging Leader. Stumpenhorst is a middle school history and English teacher and an influential blogger at Stump the Teacher.

Thousands of Panels, Which Are Best for You?

This year’s panels will be divided into four focus areas — digital-age teaching and learning, leadership, professional learning and technology infrastructure — which will comprise 39 topics.

If you’ll be attending the conference this year, don't forget to plan ahead by browsing through the hundreds of sessions listed in ISTE's online program guide, which can also be accessed with the conference’s official mobile app.
