Obama Hosting Ed Tech Summit for Superintendents

More than 100 superintendents will convene at The White House Wednesday for a summit on President Barack Obama's ConnectED initiative.

The ConnectEd to the Future event is intended to recognize superintendents who have successfully led their districts through the challenges of transitioning to digital learning.

"The Convening will provide opportunities for leaders to share lessons learned with each other and with ED to help disseminate promising approaches across the nation," according to a blog post by the Department of Education.

President Obama's ConnectED initiative has a goal of connecting 99 percent of students to broadband in schools by 2018. To bolster these efforts, Obama's administration launched the Future Ready Pledge, intended to foster innovative teaching through technology.

During the event, the president will host a digital pledge signing ceremony with over one hundred superintendents to be joined virtually by hundreds more across the country, according to a news release from the White House.
