ISTE 2017: IoT Use Can Save Money and Boost Security [#Infographic]

The Internet of Things has major possibilities in education, from more efficient thermostats to engagement-monitoring wearables. Today, in conjunction with the kickoff of ISTE 2017, CDW released new research into how K–12 professionals are approaching IoT.

Nearly half of the school districts surveyed say they have a formal IoT strategy in place with interactive devices, security-focused technology and energy-saving resources in mind.

With mobile devices becoming common, schools are branching out to deploy more innovative IoT. About 48 percent of schools use smart security cameras, 37 percent invested in smart lighting and 35 percent rely on smart HVAC systems.

Overall, 55 percent of schools say deployment of IoT devices has improved school safety, and 83 percent believe that investment in this area will increase over the next three years.
