FlipCon 2015, the Flipped Learning Conference, Expands in 8th Year

More teachers and school administrators are catching on to the power of flipped classrooms.

The future for flipped learning has never looked brighter.

The teaching method, which moves direct instruction from the group learning space to the individual learning space, is taking off in schools across the country.

Learn the difference between a flipped classroom and flipped learning.

FlipCon 2015, the Flipped Learning Network's 8th annual conference, at Michigan State University, will gather some of the best thought leaders of the movement and expand its scope to incorporate higher education instruction.

This year's conference will run from July 13–15, and attendees, whether they’re an elementary teacher or a college professor, will learn tips and tactics for integrating flipped teaching methods in their classrooms.

“Last year, more than 400 attendees gathered at FlipCon14 to learn how Flipped Learning helps students apply concepts and engage creatively with subject matter,” said Flipped Learning pioneer Jon Bergmann in a press release. “FlipCon15 has evolved to equip K-16 with even more skills and knowledge to implement or expand Flipped Learning pedagogy.”

Discover these 10 reasons flipped classrooms could change education.

This year's conference will feature a "hands-on boot camp" to introduce the power of flipped learning to newcomers; three plenary sessions; and more than 70 concurrent sessions covering all areas of K–16 education.

Topics for the sessions include:

  • New to flipped learning
  • Tools and skills of the trade
  • Beyond the flipped classroom
  • Leadership, professional development and workplace training
  • Flipped in higher education and teacher education
  • Research on flipped learning

The keynote speaker at this year’s conference is Paul Andersen, who was a finalist for the 2011 National Teacher of the Year award.
