EdX Offers Free, Online AP Courses

The free online course catalog of edX will soon widen its offerings to high school students. EdX's high school initiative will encompass 26 courses offered for free, with some courses offering a paid option that will bestow a certificate of achievement to those who successfully complete it.

"These courses ail better prepare high school students for college and offer learners of all ages an introduction to new areas of study and disciplines," according to a post on edX's website.

The new offerings are funded through grants from the Laura and John Arnold Foundation, and the Wertheimer Fund and Fariborz Maseeh / The Massiah Foundation.

The first course will kick off in October.
