Windows 10 Launches July 29

Microsoft has set a date for the launch of Windows 10, its next operating system.

Windows 10 will be made available to the public on July 29 as a free upgrade to existing users of Windows 7 and 8. Schools on the cutting edge of upgrades could have the new operating system up in time for the start of the new school year in the fall.

Among the editions made available is Windows 10 Education, which will be similar to its Windows 7 Enterprise for schools. This package will be available to schools through academic volume licensing, with features targeted at educators, students, and faculty and administrators.
