Can Colleges Meet the Demand for Mobility?

Campus IT leaders now have an end-to-end guide on drafting and executing a mobility strategy.

With smartphones in the hands of more than 70 percent of college students, all universities are in the business of supporting bring-your-own-device (BYOD) programs, by default. Coupled with growing faculty and staff demand for mobile solutions, mobility is a challenge that keeps campus IT leaders looking for innovative and cost-effective ways to protect their networks and keep students and their devices secure.

It’s no secret that most college campuses are lacking when it comes to mobile security. In fact, just 24 percent of CIOs report that their university has an official BYOD policy and 60 percent cite security as their primary IT concern. Colleges face many of the same budgetary challenges that government agencies have struggled with over the past few years, and IT decision-makers need thoughtful, calculated analysis of technology before they can roll out secure mobile solutions. Given all of the noise in the technology space, who can be trusted to deliver this information?

There’s an App for That

The newly released Technology Insights app from CDW is a go-to source for IT leaders who need practical information about modern technology offerings. The inaugural issue, Total Mobility Management, offers end-to-end mobility strategy and best practices, covering everything from drafting effective policies to choosing mobility management tools and empowering faculty, staff and students to make the most of their devices.

Throughout this multimedia guide, sections are tiered based on experience. Beginners will want to check out the “Apprentice” track, while mobility veterans can dive into the “User,” “Early Adopter” or “Expert” tracks. With links to a robust package of resources — including white papers, case studies and videos — Technology Insights from CDW aims to include everything IT leaders need to make more informed decisions about the future of mobility on their campuses.
